Pets
Pets are a thing of companionship and pleasure. Pets add fun and excitement
in our lives. There are a countless number of animals that can be pets to
mankind. Civilization has come a long ways since the first animals, probably
wolves, were domesticated by our caveman ancestors and became pets.
In general, a pet is an animal that has been turned into a household animal
as a companion for enjoyment purposes. There are other types of animals that are
kept for economic and profit purposes which include working animals, livestock,
sport animals, and laboratory animals.
Some sick owner keep pets around the house for the health benefits of helping to
relieve their own stress levels. Moreover, a pet dog owner can benefit from the
exercise, social interaction and fresh air when walking their dog.
In principal, many different animals can be domesticated and become pets. However,
in reality, only a small portion of animals (for example cats and dogs) and certain
other small animals (like fish and birds) tpically become pets for practical
reasons. It's not a very good idea to try and domesticate large or meat-eating
wild animals.
