Home Improvement
Home improvement, depending on the project, can be a very large
expenditure and time commitment. I know from personal experience after
just completing
a 6-month demolition and rebuilding of over half our house. In our
home improvement project, we demolished the existing kitchen, living
room, family room, kitchenette, entryway and huge internal wood-burning
fireplace. The fireplace was in an internal wall that opened up into both
the living room and family room.
We tore out the existing internal and external walls everywhere except
for the bedrooms and bathrooms. Next, we expanded the living area of the
house by approximately 800 square feet and built a completely new and
modern kitchen, great room, formal dining room, entryway, laundry room
and hallway. We raised the ceiling (put in coffered ceilings) in the great
room, dining room and entryway.
The kitchen cabinets were fabricated out of natural cherry wood and a
beautiful granite was selected and installed on the new kitchen counter and
huge kitchen island. We installed brand new appliances in the entire kitchen
and laundry room.
In addition, we replaced the entire house wood floor with a new natural
oak wood floor. Next we tore off the entire old roof and replace with a
brand new top of the line 50-year Presidential roof.
We ripped out both the backyard and frontyard grass (in terrible condition)
and replaced with new sod. The entire land area was also landscaped. At this
time and place, my wife and I are very happy with the finished results and
our new home improvement project.
