Art In Stone

There are many kinds of artwork, but little is more permanent than art in stone, because a art in stone is some of the most impressive and durable craft that one can make. Buying art in stone for your loved one will tell them about the undyingness of your love, but will avoid the shimmery, overly glitzy touches of other long lasting materials, such as diamond bracelets and diamond necklaces. Being carved in stone is a metaphor for being ancient, simply, and unbreakable.

Of course, I have an interest in you buying art in stone, because that is the kind of art I make myself. I have been a stone carver for twenty years, and have learned many things about making my art in stone. I began with simple things – stone pipes and statues, but even these projects when made out of stone can take a mighty long time to do. The first art in stone I made was a simple carving of a man, but it took me three weeks of daily work to complete. You really should not make art in stone unless you have a serious commitment to it, because it takes lots of time and patience.

Of course, you could just buy art in stone made by someone else, or even commission it. Sometimes art in stone can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars, but it is deffinitely worth it when you consider the amount of time it takes to make. A large soapstone statue can take months to fabricate, meticulously carved out by hand, so you should not take art in stone for granted – these are some of the world's most skilled craftsmen and artisans working their art in stone.

When carving art in stone, you should take account not just of what you want to make, but of the qualities of your material. A nice soapstone seems to invite softer, gentler features than a harder, coarser rock or a jade. The rock used in your art is not just a blank canvas for you to do with as you wish – it has features itself which must be respected, because if you let your material direct you, you will have far superior sculpture. If you launch into it with just the idea that you will make your project on any given piece of rock, you still might have something very good, but it will not be in harmony with the material.
