I will not send any further e-mails to my current subscriber list unless they choose to confirm ("Double Opt-In") their subscription. *** Explanation ************* In case you are not familiar with the "Double Opt-In" form of subscription, it works as follows: * The new subscriber expresses an interest in your fr*ee report, newsletter or mini-course by supplying their name and e-mail address to the publisher. * The publisher, after receiving the subscriber's request, sends an e-mail back to the new subscriber asking them to verify (or acknowledge) the subscription to the publisher. * The new subscriber sends the 2nd request to the publisher. * The publisher adds the new subscriber to their mailing list and informs the new subscriber that the verification is completed. This may seem like a time consuming process but it happens quickly since I use an autoresponder to perform the above steps on a 24x7 basis. *** Win-Win ****************** In my mind, this is a "win-win" situation because: * the new subscriber has confirmed their interest in the publisher's product (fr*ee report, newsletter, or mini-course) * and the publisher is sending e-mails to an interested group of individuals. Are You In The Right Online Business?
Did you select the right online business to pursue? People that are struggling find it difficult to admit they are possibly in the wrong business. Fortunately for everyone, many bad decisions can be corrected if recognized early enough. This article is intended to help you understand the available opportunities and hopefully improve your chances for future success. Supply And Demand! Everyone knows that the Internet is huge. Commerce (“buying and selling”) on the Internet is growing by leaps and bounds. It is controlled by the actions of the buyers and sellers. There is no traffic cop that makes decisions for each buyer and seller. The buyers and sellers are fr*ee to make their own decisions and pursue their own self-interests. The Internet market is held in check by the economic principle of “supply and demand.” Buyers behave (demand) in a way to make buying decisions that will maximize their satisfaction. Sellers behave (supply) in a way that will maximize their profits. In a completely fr*ee market economy, buyers and sellers interact to determine the price of the product being exchanged. Why Do People Buy On The Internet? In order to understand the actions of buyers and sellers on the Internet, the following question needs to be answered: “Why do people buy on the Internet?” Simply stated, People buy on the Internet because of the ease, efficiency, availability, price and fun of purchasing the product or service online. What Internet Opportunities Exist? There are many types of profitable business opportunities to consider on the Internet. The major opportunities considered in this article are: * Join and promote an affiliate program.
What Is Included In Each Internet Opportunity? The following is a summary level review of each opportunity: 1. Join and Promote an Affiliate Program: In this business, you establish a relationship with the owner of an existing online product or service for sale. You become an affiliate of the owner. As the affiliate, you are allowed to promote and sell the product or service for a commission on the sale. This can be an easy business to start. It is a good choice if you do not have your own product to sell. The owner is happy to pay the commission because your sale is revenue they probably would not receive without your help. 2. Write and Sell Your Own eBook: In this business, you sell the ebook that you wrote. Most people believe they do not have the ability to develop a topic and write an ebook. This is an incorrect belief. You have the ability if you can think, speak and read. The basic requirements to write a successful ebook are: * Need an objective.
If you do not have the appropriate knowledge, you can develop an ebook by using the help of an “expert.” The “expert” provides you with content for the ebook and you write the ebook. 3. Start an Electronic Newsletter: In this business, you become the publisher and editor of an electronic newsletter (“ezine”). The newsletter can be published as often as you like whether it’s daily, weekly or monthly. The frequency depends on how often you can deliver content of value to your subscribers. Distribution of the newsletter through email is generally based on an “opt-in” list of subscribers. The typical newsletter will contain: * Editorial by the publisher
4. Open an Online Store: In this business, you either setup your own website store or rent a storefront site in an established Internet mall. The Internet store requires a website, products to sell, a shopping cart and the ability to accept customer payments. It is possible to have built-in traffic if you are part of an Internet mall. Conclusion! Each business has a definite set of activities to be performed in order to be successful. Your success in a specific business is dependent on how well you perform these activities. You should select an online business to pursue based on your: * Interests
Make a complete evaluation of the opportunities available before you make a decision. Do not expect great results if you do not get excited about your business and put the necessary time and energy into your online business! Low interest, low motivation or low commitment will lead to bad or less than acceptable results! Examine closely what you want to achieve out of your online experience. Take the extra time now and it may make a big difference in your future success. Make the right decision and you have a very good chance to succeed! Are You An Expert At What You Do?
One of the most common refrains I hear from people is, "I can't create information products. I'm not an expert!" Yet what is expertise? Many organizations have tried to pin down the exact criteria that make an expert. They talk about university degrees earned and awards won and how much you're quoted in the newspaper. But I think there's a much simpler way to look at it. Can you teach another person something they didn't know? Is that something of value to the person? That's the only form of expertise you need to be worried about to create information products that enrich the world. The Road of Knowledge There will always be someone else - at least one more person, maybe several more - ahead of you on your road to knowledge. They will know more than you do. Don't sweat it. Instead, realize that those people are your teachers and mentors. There are also people behind you on the road to knowledge - and you are their teacher and mentor. They can learn from you. You don't have to know every last thing there is to know about a topic to offer them helpful information. Your fifth grade teacher didn't know everything there was to know about mathematics, but he or she was still able to teach you math. Did you ever say to your math teacher, "You know nothing about string theory! How can you teach me long division?" Of course not. The knowledge he or she had was perfectly suited to your needs at the time. There was value in what your teacher could share with you despite the fact that it wasn't the be all and end all of math. In fact, if it had been the be all and end all, the information would have been useless to you. You weren't ready for all that. You were ready for long division. It's the same with information products. There are students at different levels of study. For every level, there is a teacher needed. Don't stay quiet, thinking you have nothing to offer because someone else has more. There is room in the world for more than one teacher on any given topic. In fact, there has to be. Who has the time or energy to reach 6 billion people all on their own? If you're going to wait until you're the acknowledged grand poobah and supreme expert in the universe, you will never create an information product. You'll be waiting forever. And all the knowledge you do have will be lost to the world. Who Are You Not To Shine? Do you still question what you have to offer? Perhaps these words from Marianne Williamson's book, A Return To Love, will help. Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. Remember those words anytime you find yourself thinking, "Who am I to write a book about this?" or "What makes me think I can create a tape set about that?" Your playing small doesn't serve the world! It doesn't help the people behind you on the road. Don't hide. Don't wait. Share what you know. -----------------------------------------------------------

Send me your tips that you would like to share. I will put it in this column if appropriate. SP*AM is getting a lot of focus and attention these days. If you have a subscriber database that you send e-mails to, I suggest you start using "double Opt-In" subscription to minimize the negative impact of subscribers informing you "I did not subscribe to your list." Before you write that next ebook (or consider writing your first ebook), don't make the mistake many authors make. Some write their book first and then try to find the market afterwards. This can lead to a big disappointment. You need to identify your "niche" market first and then select a problem that needs to be resolved. Write your ebook based on the "wants or needs" of your niche market. ============================================================
